Can I bring a cooler?
No. One important reason is that the free Nightfall Concert Series is supported in part by the concessions sold on site. You can purchase everything from ice cold beer to wine, lemonade, slushies, soft drinks, hot dogs, soft pretzels, BBQ and more – reasonably priced - at the festival site.
Can I bring my own beer?
No. Not only is it against the law, but on-site beer sales go a long way toward making the free Nightfall Concert Series possible.
Can I bring my dog?
Absolutely. Nightfall is a pet-friendly event, as long as your best friends are on leashes and play well with others. Many weeks we have good Samaritans who provide water and little treats for our four-legged friends.
Is there a cover charge?
No. Thanks to our sponsors and your concession purchases, Nightfall is, has, and will always remain a free event.
Will you consider my band for next year?
Headlining acts are typically national touring acts chosen by a special Nightfall Committee of local music lovers. Opening acts however, are usually local acts that submit a sample of their music to the Committee. Acts for a particular year’s series need to submit their music samples and contact information to Carla Pritchard of Chattanooga Presents at 720 Cherry Street by March 1st of the event year. We will contact you with an opportunity to perform pending approval.
Can I get past year’s t-shirts?
Our annual schedule shirts seem to be a hot commodity. Some past year’s shirts are available. Sizes are limited. Contact Ann Ball of Chattanooga Presents at 423-265-0771 for more information.
Can I bring a lawn chair?
Of course. However, be respectful of your location and space. Also, there is seating available at the front of the stage which is first come, first served.
Where can I park?
There is plenty of free surface lot, garage and meter parking nearby. Meters aren’t enforced after 4pm. For a full map of downtown parking,

Can I ride my bicycle?
By all means. Bike racks are located around the perimeter of the park.
Can I ride my motorcycle?
Yes. Nightfall is “bike friendly,” as long as their riders are too. This means parking only in designated areas close to the plaza, arriving before the entertainment begins, and not cranking up your hawg until after the music has finished. You’ll be surprised at all of the cool bikes you’ll see at Nightfall. So be cool and respectful of those music lovers who aren’t lucky enough to own one.
How are the acts for Nightfall chosen?
Nightfall is lucky enough to have a dedicated Selection Committee of several local music lovers who donate their time and new musical finds each year in order to assemble a laundry list of potential acts. These artists are then weeded out based on budget and availability until the final 17 have been booked. Local opening acts are chosen from those that submit a sample of their music and contact information to Carla Pritchard by March 1st of the festival year.
I saw a really great band at this local club last month. Can you get them for Nightfall?
While there aren’t many hard and fast rules concerning the selection of music acts, the Nightfall Selection Committee prefers to deliver acts that haven’t played the area in a long time, if ever, in order to provide our music loving friends with entertainment they wouldn’t normally get and expose the city to new talent. Suggestions are always welcome however.
Do acts that played Nightfall in the past ever return for an encore in the future?
Very rarely, if ever. One of the most exciting things about Nightfall is being exposed to new music. In fact, you may even see some up-and-coming acts that later become household names. The Series has played host to many now-famous entertainers, including Barenaked Ladies, Alison Krauss & Union Station, John Hiatt, The Black Keys, Of Montreal, Derek Trucks Band and JJ Grey & Mofro just to name a few.
Why does Nightfall end so early?
The main purpose of Nightfall is to promote hanging out downtown. We want you to have plenty of time to spend the rest of your evening at one of the many great local restaurants and nightspots within blocks of the event site.
Do vendors take credit cards?
No. However, there is an ATM machine on site.
Do you require a valid driver’s license each week in order to buy beer or wine?
What do you think?
What happens if I buy beer or wine for my underage friend?
You go to jail and miss the headliner.
Do my tax dollars go to paying for Nightfall?
No. Nightfall is funded by corporate sponsorships, donations, and a good portion of the money you spend on concessions while you’re there. Isn’t it awesome these companies provide you with such a great event for free? An excellent way of thanking them is with your business.
How crowded is Nightfall?
We usually see an audience of around 2,500 on any given Friday. However, that number of people spread across three closed streets surrounding the Miller Plaza and the plaza itself, the crowd is very manageable and getting around is easy.
